Compare this chart of home prices over the last 50 years on the left to the cost of rent in the chart on the right.
What story does it tell?
It's one where those who owned assets had record gains...
And one where for those who didn’t... their cost of living went up.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that the cards are stacked against the average working person.
For example, you know that the federal reserve prints money, but do you know the actual process of how that happens?
And how it results in them basically taxing your money by making it worth less?
This is what happens...
There’s a committee that decides how much money is going to be worth, and they set a target interest rate to reach their goal.
Then, the Federal Reserve office in New York instructs their workers to buy and sell securities from huge financial corporations (like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, etc.)...
...who are the only ones authorized to do business with them.
Essentially, they inject money into the economy through a process called “quantitative easing”.
How it happens is the federal reserve has traders at their desk that call up these banks and tell them they want to buy a treasury bond.
The federal reserve then goes and makes money appear in their computer out of nowhere.
They don’t even print physical paper anymore, it’s all 1’s and 0’s in a computer.
They make this money appear in their computer, and then they wire it to the bank to complete the transaction.
And now the bank has, for example, 8 Billion dollars in their account that they didn’t have before.
…That’s 8 Billion more dollars funneled into Wall Street that wasn’t there before.
Over the decades, the federal reserves used this power to create new money in the banking system to essentially lower or raise the amount of money on Wall Street.
Just in the last 50 years, the value of the dollar has gone down almost 90%.
Since the introduction of quantitative easing, the federal reserve printed more money from 2008 to 2014 than it had in the last 100 years.
This has resulted in the price of assets going up and the price of money being worth less.
Those who owned financial assets like stocks, bonds, and real estate saw an increase in their net worth.
Those who didn’t own much or didn’t own anything saw little to no benefits from all that money printing.
This is what made the gap between the upper and lower class significantly greater.
It’s also a large contribution to the debt crisis we face.
And that’s just one way the system is rigged against the regular working person...
Another is through our education system...
Although the cost of schooling continues to go up, the quality of it hasn’t improved.
Our education system never kept up with our advancements in technology and science.
We expect our schools to teach us how to create a great quality of life.
We’re told that if we study hard and earn good grades, we can earn a degree in a specialized field.
We're told that because we have a degree, we’ll be prepared for a healthy, wealthy, and happy life.
But when you look around it’s clear that’s not how it works anymore.
School doesn’t give us the best on how economy, markets, business, and entrepreneurship work.
...On human nature and how societies operate, and how to communicate in a way we’re heard.
...On how our mind and nervous system function, and how we can regulate our thoughts and emotions.
...On how to take ownership of our income outside of a job, and how to acquire assets and become self-sufficient.
Or, how to create an independent life…
…One where you’re happy with what you contribute to society and what you get in return for it.
These are the things that matter to me and what I wanted to learn.
Shouldn’t this be the expectation of any worthwhile education?
To learn how to create a good life, despite knowing that it comes to an end.
I became a student to understand life so that I can live a fulfilling one.
I wanted to learn how to think, not what to think.
I wanted to carve out my own path, not follow someone else’s.
So why would I go the conventional way?
